Robsoncrim.com Welcomes Kyle Kirkup

We are delighted to welcome another great addition to our team of collaborators here at Robsoncrim.com. At Robsoncrim we endeavor to foster open and informative discussion and debate about current issues in the criminal law, criminal justice and justice policy more generally. We are very pleased to welcome Kyle to join us in this mission.

Kyle Kirkup is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law (Common Law Section). His research explores the role of constitutional law, criminal law, and family law in regulating contemporary norms of gender identity and sexuality. Before joining the University of Ottawa, Kyle was a 2013 Trudeau Foundation Scholar and a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholar at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and studied at Yale Law School. In 2010-2011, Kyle served as a law clerk to the Honourable Madam Justice Louise Charron at the Supreme Court of Canada. Kyle is a frequent media contributor, most recently publishing editorials in The Globe and Mail, National Post, and TVO on topics including solitary confinement in Canada’s federal prisons, transgender human rights issues, and the criminalization of HIV non-disclosure.
